Believers can rely on the certainties the book proclaims: God is sovereign over human affairs and is effectively bringing in his eternal kingdom, which will encompass all nations. As it does, faithful people persevere in their work for God. ![]() Houseĭaniel asserts that the meaning of history is that God's kingdom is coming. The Book of Daniel is a realistic manual for the saints, still vitally relevant for the church in today's worldĭaniel: An Introduction and Commentary, Paul R. The story of Daniel inspires faithfulness and hope that God will bring all nations under his rule. "You Can Always Have Hope" - Christians are safeguarded by the power of God and therefore can always have hope despite hardship, temptation, and discouragement. "God Has a Plan" - God rescues people from their sins and secures their everlasting righteousness. "The Nations Rage While God's Kingdom Holds Firm" - Nations and leaders are in a frenzy for power, but God's reign is unwavering. "Who's Really In Charge Here?" - Hint: It's no ruler here on earth, no matter how beastly and powerful they seem. "Daniel & The Lion's Den: More Than Just a Sunday School Story" - God reigns over all kings, lions, and everything in between. "God Cannot Be Mocked: The Handwriting is on the Wall" - God's judgment is coming and all will see that God cannot be mocked. "The Most High Rules Over the Rulers of Men" - God takes the king from the palace to the pasture to show that the God Most High alone reigns. "God Walks With Us in the Fire" - God may not deliver you from the fire, but he will always be with you in it. "God Knows All Mysteries" - God knows all things, even things done in secret. "The Most High rules over the kingdom of men and gives it to whom he will and sets over it the lowliest of men." (Daniel 4:17) "Drawing a Line in the Sand" - It is possible to be surrounded by wordly propoganda and still live a full and faithful life. While the nations rage, we will trust in the Lord our God. It points us to a future that’s sure, when God will one day fully extend his perfect justice. It calls us to prayerful dependence on God in dire circumstances and courageous allegiance to God in the face of opposition. It shows us the sovereignty of God over human authorities and the role of God's people in the midst of an unbelieving society. And it’s the central theme of the book of Daniel.ĭaniel tells the story of the power of God in the lives of his people in a world gone mad. This is the truth our hearts need to hear. Into the cacophony we will proclaim one thing louder than any other: our God reigns. The world is shouting for our allegiance. Yard signs pop up in our neighborhoods and propaganda in our news feeds. He reveals deep and mysterious things and knows what is hidden in darkness, though he is surrounded by light" (Daniel 2:21-22, NLT).Īs Election Day draws near, the nation is pressed to pick a side. He controls the course of world events he removes kings and sets up other kings He gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to the scholars.
